We keep goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and grow lots of vegetables
We are lucky to live on a 100 acre farm in the beautiful Blackmore Vale in North Dorset. Bere Marsh Farm has been certified Organic with the Soil Association for the last 5 years. Before that it was part of the family’s much larger dairy farm and the young stock were kept on the water meadows throughout the summer.
All our animals are happy, well-cared for (quite often, spoilt!) and their welfare is our top priority.
We are building up a small herd of breeding Boer-cross goats which will supply tasty young goat meat – Capretto ( Capretto comes from the Italian term "kid goat" ).

We buy in a few weaners each year from a local organic farm to raise delicious and succulent pork. In the future we hope to breed our own.
Our chickens are all organic and a mix of Marans, Light Sussex, Buff Orpingtons and Hubbards. We are currently raising 10 chicks under heat as the next batch of layers.

Our ducks are Aylesburys and give us hours of fun as well as plenty of eggs throughout the Spring and Summer.
Our plans for the future include raising chicken for the table, keeping Geese and Turkeys for the Christmas market and having a House Cow! We have expanded our vegetable garden and bought a polytunnel with the view to being self-sufficient and selling any excess produce at the farm gate.
