We keep goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and grow lots of vegetables
Bere Marsh Farm is an 80 acre farm in the beautiful Blackmore Vale in North Dorset by the River Stour. The farm has been certified Organic with the Soil Association for the last 8 years. Before that it was part of the family’s much larger dairy farm and the young heifers grazed on the water meadows throughout the summer. A small Woodland Burial Ground was set up in 2000 in the middle of the farm overlooking the river and Hambledon Hill.
We have a small herd of Cashmere x Boer goats, producing young tender goatmeat - Capretto - for sale each autumn (Capretto comes from the Italian term "kid goat").
We buy in a few weaners each year from a local organic farm to raise delicious and succulent pork which is for sale from the farm. In the future we hope to breed our own.
The most important thing to us is that the animals in our care are happy and content. Their welfare is our top priority.
Last year, we opened a small campsite on the farm with woodland and river frontage.
Fishing, wildlife watching and campfires are all on offer.
